OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Young Democrats of Dekalb is to promote Democratic ideals, policies, and opportunities among all people in Dekalb County, Georgia, while providing support to the Democratic candidates at the local, state, and national levels.
MEET OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM
Kaitlyn Brewster joined Young Democrats of Dekalb in 2022 as the Chief of Staff. Within one year, Kaitlyn managed several campaigns and volunteered at numerous non-profits, while maintaining a 3.0 GPA. Kaitlyn was elected as President in January 2023. Applying experience from working with Congressman Hank Johnson and Dekalb Dems as their co- chair of communications, Kaitlyn is determined to leave an impact with YDD.
Ameena Wimberly is a dedicated community leader with a passion for civic engagement and social justice. Since 2022, she has been an active member of Young Democrats of DeKalb, serving as the former treasurer and now as Vice President. Ameena is a student at DeKalb School of Arts and has served as a Service Leader and Volunteer for Pebble Tossers of Atlanta. Ameena is a rising star in the world of community organizing and activism.
Erin Smith joined Young Democrats of Dekalb in 2023 as the Communications Director. Erin has 8+ years of experience in Public Relations and Marketing, as well as political campaigning, fundraising and project management. Erin worked on Hilary Clinton’s campaign in 2016 and established her own PR & Marketing Firm, The Smith Enterprise in 2017. Erin plans to combine her passion for community wellness and politics to make an impact on the world.
